Dear GCBA Community:
Since the sudden close of the 2019-2020 season we have all been through many unprecedented events. During the seventeen months since that time the GCBA Executive has met regularly and have been working toward the day when our coaches and players can return to the court.
Following the guidance of Ottawa Public Health and the Ontario Basketball Association it will be our goal to restart both our House League and Competitive Programs this Fall. While there is still much uncertainty around what this may look like – we are committed to offering these programs if possible.
We have been communicating with our facilities partners: local school boards, the City of Ottawa, private facilities and local Universities and Colleges. Please be aware that some facilities require participants to be fully vaccinated to participate – the GCBA is obligated to follow any rules which the facilities we rent may have in place.
The GCBA, along with Ottawa Public Health encourages everyone who is eligible to be vaccinated to do so. This will help to make our return to basketball safer for everyone.
In order to help with our planning, we would ask that you confirm that you are registered for the current season. Please click here to go directly to the GCBA Registration page. At this time you may choose the “office payment” option and this will defer payment until September 30th, at which time we hope to have a clearer picture of what our programs will look like this year. This will assist greatly in our planning. In order to hold Competitive tryouts in September we will be using outdoor courts and this will continue until we have access to school board gyms.Yours truly, Brad Strong
